Next Steps

Grant yourself execute permissions to install-canopy-[ubuntu-x64 | linux-arm].sh. (Update the example command below with the right filename for your platform.)

chmod 777 install-canopy*.sh

Run the install script with sudo access. (Update the example command below with the right filename for your platform.)

sudo ./install-canopy*.sh

The script creates a user for the probe to run from, extracts the probe tarball to /opt/canopy_manage_probe (setting required permissions), then creates an init.d service called canopyManageProbe and starts it.

Go to Canopy Manage, then the Probes section. Click Register New Probe. Switch to the Linux (CLI) tab.

Back in Ubuntu, in the terminal go to /opt/canopy_manage_probe/

Copy the command from the Register new Probe screen and paste it into the terminal.

Prepend it with "sudo -u canopyManage " to register the probe with Canopy Manage using the service account the install script created.

Then restart the Canopy Manage Probe service:

sudo systemctl restart canopyManageProbe

Canopy Manage should now have a green tick for this new probe.
